[Weekly Discussion] #1: Manipulation of "Pirates"

Discussion #1
Manipulation of "Pirates"

Manipulating, or in the game sense using them in your advantage to take over another power, is it a deciding factor in a game? I've used them many times before to help "sway" the victory into my favor, and other times they turn around and stab me in the back.

Do you guys think "Pirates" or other small nations have a large factor in the game?

Enjoy and Discuss!

P.S. This is our first of many Weekly Discussions. The poll and topic will be open for 7 days and new discussions will start every Monday. If there is any flaming/trolling/immature behavior I will immediately delete the post and a 24 - hour ban on the offender from the site. This is to help the game and the players so please be considerate and polite. Enjoy and Discuss!

First off, awesome idea and hey.

2nd response- there are pirates who love one player unconditionally either for pre-teaming  or because they choose to and its sometimes impossible to tell and when you can't tell they somehow always end up making a big difference to the one player they attack(if they have any skills at all)

Of course I think they are a large factor because someone will eventually be forced to throw plenty of resources on them one way or another.
Many people are nice or talk to pirates to get them on there side because honestly they are life savers.

The only time they are useless is if they have no gold saved or if they are noob. The minute they are ignored and are allowed to save gold, they become a major part of the game even in classic mode. Also if everyone agrees to kill the pirates or no one is likes them they are useless.

If you are in a 3 way and a pirate attacks a noob, it becomes a 2 way while the 3rd wastes everything because they are bitter or something. I have seen that plenty, a pirate who toys with a noob with lots of land...tss, sad right?

Pirates can definitely play a big impact on the game, when i can I finish them off, but if I cant (being protected) I'm always nice to them :P

Skilled pirates are nice because they often gave up the idea of winning. If they choose your side you know they won't backstabb you. If you are the big power in-game it is also nice because a lot of players will want you to have the game and consequently help you getting it.

On the contrary, if the pirate is a noob, don't trust him, kill him. If he's protected, avoid any contact or you may become the guy on whom he's going to suicide.

i cant agree yun, cuz i play in every game for the win, and if i am a pirate, i wont help any1 until 1 player will win, then i backstabb and i dont care if i backstabb the person who gave me land ^^

and y  nice topic, i love it to be a good pirate, i make peace with every1 i can, and private msg them to give me some lands/islands and i will help them to win, it works rly nice and if i get then the island bonus its awesome...

noone thinks u are dangerous and that is a f**king great advantage :)
if they suicide each other u have just to w8, and then u can take a person rly easy, u need to study your enemies, u NEEED to know when they are out of gold, then its your turn :-)

Is private MSGing allowed?

@ topic: I do exactly the same like riva, but without the private chatting ^_^
Pirates have such a great impact on the game, they decide so much sometimes..

My last game I used to be the greedy guy and still manipulated so much people to help me, so I could easily win. (me: NA,SA,ANT,half africa  + a noob: Europe, half africa vs an average guy who had asia+australia)

I abused 2 pirates to cut the income very often of the Asia guy effectifly.

so easy win, but because i only play 1v1 for rank, I just played like a noob, feeded his K/D cuz we were teaming him and gave him the win, ( i had 1400gold saved when i left xDD)... too sad, that i dont play FFA anymore serious, just because Pre-teamers and my great internet which give me 1screen every 15-30seconds in lategame ^_^

No it is not allowed, but in this discussion I don't care.

I have always tried to keep the peace with "Pirates". I try to give the skilled ones land and help them. But for the ones that are against me, the best defense against them is better than trying to wipe them out. But in early game when you become a large power I try to cut out as many of them as I can when I'm aggressing so I don't deal with them later. I also try to make peace with the people who get overrun by another power because they want revenge on that player.

Just my 2 cents :)

Though this isn't on topic, its not in the rules, people are named "Uknown" for a reason, it could actually be "bug exploitation" in order for someone to even pm another person you have to ---
